Muharraq’s Narrow Alleys
January 22, 2010
The old Muharraq is famous for its winding and narrow ally ways and paths. In ancient times this provided shadows most of the day for the hot climate, and acted as a windbreaker during the winter.
Socially, this made it a very close community with neighbors virtually acting as family and sharing the raising of the children, cooking, etc.
